Employee Spotlight: Abelina “Abby” Echevarria
We are thrilled to turn our attention to a remarkable individual who has been quietly impacting her local community in a big way - Abelina “Abby” Echevarria. Abby has been a member of the PromoShop team since the very beginning, 25 years ago! Because of Abby’s tireless efforts, our company has been able to support various impactful causes that resonate deeply with our community. Notable among these initiatives are the Culver Palms Meals on Wheels program.
Several years ago, Abby rallied PromoShop team members in Los Angeles to volunteer their time for this wonderful cause. The experience was more than just a meal delivery; it was a chance to interact, engage, and uplift those who need it most.
"Prior to the pandemic, giving back to the community included volunteering once a month during our lunch hour to pick up and deliver meals on behalf of Culver Palms Meals on wheels (CPMOW) homebound clients, many senior citizens.”
Abby's commitment has remained unwavering. Recognizing the significance of companionship, she transitioned the engagement from meal deliveries to heartfelt phone calls.
"In my spare time, I love connecting with CPMOW recipients/clients over the phone every month. I am assigned to call 6 people, they make my day more than they know. They are most grateful to have volunteers who go out of their way to call them and to deliver their food week after week."
Abby's efforts have also included donating PromoShop samples to CPMOW's homebound clients alongside hand-written notes.
“Receiving a new piece of apparel, drinkware, wellness kit and or even a handwritten post card lets them know someone cares for them. For our PromoShop Los Angeles Open House in June, employees were invited to bring their children to work. This opportunity was two-fold: show our youngsters what we do at work, and how we make a difference in our communities and world. They did a beautiful job handwriting the messages. Thank you, youngsters and parents!”
Abby's passion for community engagement and wellness radiates through her actions and words. She challenges other companies to embrace similar initiatives, emphasizing the potential to create a meaningful impact.
"Helping others, in this case, CPMOW, is a great way to meet and engage with others and most importantly, give back to the community.
